PFCN Food Pantry
At Phoenix First, we're dedicated to helping our community with not one, but two valuable programs. First, in partnership with St. Mary's Food Bank, we offer Food Assistance on the second Wednesday of every month from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. If you ever find yourself in need of an emergency food box, please don't hesitate to call us at 623-516-2111; we're here to assist you. Second, each Thursday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, we provide fresh produce and other essential items at the northeast entrance of the sanctuary. Our mission is to support and serve our community, and we invite you to take advantage of these resources whenever you require assistance.
Kids Clothing Closet
At Phoenix First, we're committed to supporting our community, and that includes helping with clothing needs. We have a children's clothing closet with sizes ranging from newborn to kids XL, along with shoes. If you or someone you know could use some clothing assistance, please reach out to our church office at 623-516-2111 to schedule an appointment and pick up the items you require.
Additionally, we warmly welcome donations of gently used clothing in all sizes. Your contributions help us continue our mission of meeting the needs of our community. Thank you for being a part of this meaningful effort.
Widow Support Group
The Widow Support Group at Phoenix First Church gathers monthly, providing a safe space for women to come together and share their challenges while offering mutual support in their journey through grief. This caring community is open to all who have experienced the loss of a husband, regardless of when it occurred in their life. For those who have recently lost a loved one, the group recommends valuable grief books to help navigate the healing process. Join us as we find solace and strength in companionship and understanding.
Counseling
Resources
We here, at Phoenix First Church of the Nazarene, love our Church family and always want to ensure they are taken care of. We want to meet the needs of our people physically, spiritually, and mentally. Here at Phoenix First, we want you to understand that it is okay to not be okay sometimes. No one should have to struggle alone, and no one should feel like they are looked down upon or seen differently if they do struggle. We love you, we appreciate you, and we want you to know that there is help. One way we are taking care of our Church family is by providing the tools and resources for you to be able to take care of yourselves in a healthy way. We are also providing educational resources to help you in your knowledge of mental health whether you or a loved one is struggling. Pastor Josh’s door is always open for spiritual guidance but sometimes, your problems may be a little deeper or bigger. That is why God gave us the field of counseling. Counselors are a huge blessing to the community and the Church family. Counselors are kind, understanding, and have great knowledge of how our brains are wired.
Within this webpage, we have provided numerous resources for you to utilize in any scenario that you may go through. First, we provided you with hotlines for a variety of crises you may encounter. From suicidal thoughts, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, to even addiction, we have those phone numbers listed for you. Many of those hotlines are available 24/7 and as a caller you remain anonymous with your information kept confidential. We have also researched the best counselors throughout Arizona. Those counselors are broken down into further categories based on your specific needs. We have counselors who specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction behaviors, marriage, family, teens, and children. If you feel that any of the counselors provided may not fit your needs, we can find one who is a better fit for you. Within the list of highly-qualified counselors, we have also provided a list of some of the top rehabilitation centers for addiction in the state. Again, if any of those are not the right fit, we can find one that meets your needs. Lastly, regarding the educational resources, we have provided websites and videos that help explain how to identify mental health issues, definitions of disorders, the benefits of counseling, and so much more. We here at Phoenix First, want you to understand that what you are going through is not uncommon. We want you to be fully educated on these topics and understand how beneficial receiving help can be.
We want to reiterate how important it is for you to not remain silent in your internal battle. We truly care about you and your well-being here at the Church. Reaching out, educating yourself, and finding help are the keys to improving your situation. You are not alone in your struggles. We love you, we see you, and we are here to help.

Summary of Services:
They offer services for:
Individual Counseling:
Adults and Teens
Children 9-12
In Individual Counseling the therapy process offered at Renew Counseling typically begins with either a 55-minute or 85-minute assessment which will take a comprehensive look at your presenting issues, symptoms, and goals for treatment.
Before setting up this first appointment, you may arrange a complimentary telephone consultation so you can ask any questions you may have and get a feel for how your therapist may approach your issues.
UNIQUE OPTIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL CLIENTS: Some clients ask for intensive work, which can involve multiple-hour sessions. These sessions are structured in 3-hour time blocks and can be customized to single and multiple days depending on the client's need and ability to respond in this context.
So long as you are an established client, they are able to offer session work by HIPAA-compliant video through the secure client portal. Certain restrictions apply. Please ask if you are interested in knowing more about this option.
Finally, in order to provide access to mental health services to those clients who may suffer from a disability or are homebound, they are able to provide an in-home assessment session with subsequent sessions using a HIPAA compliant and fully secure video contained within the client portal.
Couples Counseling:
Marriage Counseling
Premarital Counseling
As Christian counselors, their work with couples employs a picture of secure love in the gospel within a theoretical framework of attachment theory using the empirically proven therapeutic models of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, the Safe Haven Model, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Through these models and the integration of Biblical principles of covenant relationship, they seek changes for people in a way that will produce lasting positive change.
They address issues such as; Emotional distance between partners, An increase in the number of arguments, Repeated arguments over the same issues, Conversations about separation or divorce, Lack of affection, or difficulties with physical intimacy, Lack of fun in a relationship, Poor communication – not feeling heard or feeling misunderstood, Betrayal and infidelity – physical or emotional, Sex addiction, Disagreements over how to raise children, Times of transition
They recommend couples take advantage of an initial 85-minute session block due to the complexities that exist with each partner’s need to share his or her perspective on the presenting issues in the relationship and goals for treatment. In some instances, your therapist may also recommend separate individual sessions for each partner to gain more insight – sometimes highly distressing relationships do not have enough emotional safety present to be completely honest about issues in the presence of the partner.
Family Counseling:
Ages 8 and Older
Family Therapy typically begins with either a 55-minute or 85-minute assessment where we will take a comprehensive look at the issues, as you see them, in your family. Depending on your situation, this may be in a format where the entire family system is present or just with the parental system before engaging with the other family members.
They specialize in:
Addiction to Drugs or Alcohol

Sanctuary Recovery Center
Located at: 11645 N Cave Creek Rd Phoenix AZ

https://sanctuaryrecoverycenters.com/
Services:
This program is a faith-based program. They offer alternatives to meeting requirements for certain programs, like attending a Church service in place of a meeting.
In-Patient Treatment/ Residential Programs
During the duration of their treatment, the members will be provided with all their basic needs to remove any barriers to treatment. Sanctuary has 24-hour onsite staff Peer Support/Behavioral Health Technicians. Peer support is an evidence-based practice for the treatment of mental illness.
Our programs will allow for more efficient use of staff by ensuring that we keep a staff to member ratio of 1:5. Behavioral Health Techs follow evidence-based material such as Living in Balance, Mind Over Mood, Matrix, and Positive Psychology: Mindfulness, Living Skills, Coaching, and Anger Management for a total of 30 hours per week. We also include 12-step groups; individualized spirituality needs per treatment plan and ancillary groups like Yoga and Art Therapy. While in our care, members are provided all their basic needs such as nutritional meals, snacks, bedding, clothing, hygiene, personal care products, and a phone. We provide these items to remove any small barriers to treatment and allow for the member to receive care without worrying about these basic needs. Most of our members have experienced homelessness or significant time on the streets and have a need to relearn basic skills that most of us take for granted. Our staff will spend the necessary time to teach members to wash laundry, wash dishes, and relearn how to keep their rooms cleaned and picked up.
Partial Hospitalization
Treatment services in this level of care are tailored to acute cases of abuse disorder, and clients are provided a stable setting with healthcare practitioners working alongside the individual to find the next right step towards recovery. Clinically indicated activities are integrated to form treatment plans for people with acute needs; to form a tailored PHP program suitable for the best outcomes. There are therapeutic, physical, and medical interventions working in tandem to allow the individual to make their way from PHP to less intensive settings. The methods employed by Sanctuary Recovery Centers have an extremely effective result against re-hospitalization. Again, continued care is foundational at Sanctuary and often PHP is just the first step to true healing.
Intensive Outpatient
The continuation of care and holistic programming offered by Sanctuary provides the ideal pathway to bring an individual through addiction and to recovery. There is a level of care available there that encompasses all aspects of the disease and focuses on self-development but also community building and real-life coping skills so that an “exit” from treatment is never really an “exit. Rather it’s the beginning of a new phase in Recovery, and they are there with housing and alumni programs to keep making progress.
Structured Sober Living
Once a member is close to completing their treatment plan, they begin their discharge plan with the clinician and the Case Manager. This plan includes a relapse prevention plan, job search, resume building, structured living or family placement, and if necessary, MAT services from an outside provider. A key component to this process is frequently a sober living environment.
Their inviting and comfortable homes are located around the Phoenix Metro area and contain all amenities needed for a safe transition back into stable habits.
Specialized Trauma Programs
Sanctuary Recovery Centers, have expert staff, highly trained therapists, and other survivors that inform tailored treatments for those who have a history of abuse or other trauma in their past.
Social Detox
At Sanctuary Recovery Centers, they do not provide on-site medical detox. They have a strong network of providers they refer to. But for those who do not require medical detoxification, they provide supervised and managed withdrawal periods for those suffering. They provide a safe and structured environment for the journey away from drugs and/or alcohol.
Structured Sober living - $175 a week, $250 deposit, $425 move-in fee
Access and out-of-network insurances accepted for both the intensive outpatient and inpatient programs
